Have a machine problem you can’t solve?
We are finding that a lot of customers these days want a professional to check out a machine they recently purchased, found, or brought out of the attic. This is usually because the condition is unknown, and the customer is not sure if they are quite ready to invest in a tune-up or any other repairs. Other times the machine is not working well and has a problem, and the customer needs a pro to find out what is troubling their machine.
We will gladly inspect any machine that is brought into us. We have a minimum $25 inspection/diagnosis fee that is paid at the time the machine is dropped off with us. This amount is credited against any other repairs or tune-up if you later decide you want more services performed. If only an inspection is performed, the total cost would only be the $25 paid at the time of drop off.
WHY THE FEE? Our time is just as valuable as yours, and we actually do spend time disassembling and inspecting your machine. This protects us from customers who may opt to not spend any money towards a repair or tune-up, or worse yet those that bring us machines literally picked from the dump and then left at our store.
An inspection/diagnosis does not involve any cleaning, oiling, or adjustments as you would find with a tune-up. We simply run the machine in all configurations for which it is designed and ensure it is functioning properly. We also remove all covers to expose the inner components and inspect for damage or any other signs that the machine may not function properly. At that point we call the customer and advise them of what we found.
Some machines may need repairs, and we will advise what repairs may be needed and the estimated cost. Most machines will just need a basic tune-up if nothing is broken or missing. Others may be so badly damaged that our advice could be that it’s not wise to invest any further if repair costs would exceed the value of the machine. We take pride in being honest and straight forward with our customers.
